This and That...

As usual, I am overdue for an update! Let's start off with what's been accomplished:

#5 (Enroll in an MBA program): WOOHOO!!!! Yea!!! Yippee!!! (I'm doing a little dance around the living room right now.) I am officially enrolled in the University of Florida's MBA program. In other words, I've given them money. :) The program will begin in June and be completed in one year. Related to this, I've given official notice at work that my last day will be June 5th.

#63 (Take Dad to lunch at Out of the Fire): I had a very nice lunch with my dad at my favorite restaurant. I just heard today that OOF will not be open for lunch starting in February. How terrible!! I'm glad I got this one done when I had the chance.

#68 (Figure out loan/financing options for school): Getting the assistantship helps immensely with the cost of doing my MBA. I've also opened a home equity line of credit that I'll be used for non-tuition expenses.

Now for some updates on some other items:

#2: This item was to become a licensed makeup artist. That's still something I would really enjoy doing (just for fun) but I don't think I'm going to have the time to do it within this 101 list. I've therefore replaced it with a new item: Buy at least one stock on my own (not as part of a mutual fund).

I also sent out Christmas cards (#65) and made a new Greater Good Necklace (#78) this past holiday season. I need to do each of these two more times before I can cross them off.

Finally, I had a very fun birthday in Baltimore last weekend. It really was a great time. But I think I can do better... I'm going to hold out for a *SUPER*-fun birthday before I cross this one off (#90).

14. Cease to carry on long-term casual relationships with men (well, with one in particular). COMPLETE - Approx. 1/2008

15. Write Mom & Dad a thank you letter.

16. Get laser hair removal treatments for my bikini area. (Update: I've had a couple of sessions, but the rest is on hold until I'm finished with school. But I LOVE the results so far... Definitely recommend this to annyone who can fit it in their budget.)

17. Buy a white bikini and wear it in public without feeling completely disgusting and traumatized.

18. Write at least one chapter of any of the books I’ve always thought about writing. I’m probably not interested in writing a whole book, but it would be good to know that I could at least write one lousy chapter.

19. Learn how to hold a newborn baby without fear of causing its head to fall off. COMPLETE: 8/2007

20. For two full weeks, stop eating when I am no longer hungry and don’t eat when I’m not hungry.

21. Take tennis lessons.

22. Find a place to put coupons and keep them organized so that I actually use them. COMPLETE: 7/2007

23. Try a new hair color. COMPLETE: 8/2007

24. Re-learn how to swim.

25. Take a self defense class.

26. Give my bedroom a makeover.

27. Make myself an expensive piece of jewelry with very good quality materials.

28. Write down my family medical history.

29. Take dance lessons with a partner.

30. Put more shelves in my shoe closet so that all of my shoes will fit. COMPLETE: 6/20/08

31. Go to bed by 11:00 for one whole work week.

32. Get to where I can carry on a basic conversation in German.

33. Learn to play poker.

34. Print all of my digital pictures and put them in albums.

35. Take a vacation in Latin America (somewhere south of Mexico). COMPLETE: 10/2008

36. Watch “The Godfather”. COMPLETE: 7/2007

37. Clean my car at least 10 times during the course of the 1001 days (this would really be quite an accomplishment for me!).

38. Start a travel journal.

39. Frame my Christmas cross-stitches.

40. Learn to play Chess.

41. Go on a vacation with just my sister.

42. Get a professional massage. COMPLETE: 12/2008

43. Find a new store to carry my jewelry.

44. Buy a new dress, get all dolled up, and wear said new dress out somewhere fun while feeling like a million bucks.

45. Send out at least 5 “thinking of you” cards to friends that I don’t keep in touch with nearly as much as I should.

46. Learn about Middle Eastern history. Understand the different sects of Islam and why they can’t get along with each other.

47. Ride in a limo. COMPLETE: 11/2008

48. Give my friends makeovers (crazy, fun, dramatic, and/or themed ones), photograph them and make a little book. Also, give them framed pictures of their best shots.

49. Get dressed up for Halloween and go out somewhere.

50. Plant something in my yard all by myself and keep it alive.

51. Read Pride & Prejudice since it’s my sister’s favorite book. COMPLETE: 1/2009

52. Fully clean out and organize my home office.

53. Have my parents and sister over for dinner.

54. Have friends over for a tapas dinner.

55. Figure out a way to display my martini glasses and do so.

56. Frame my travel ad posters and hang them up at work.

57. Frame my drawings from high school and hang them somewhere.

58. Get more memory for my sad, slow computer. COMPLETE: 6/2008

59. Make a painting, and if it doesn’t suck, hang it in my house.

74. No eating out (takeout included) for two full weeks. Only exception: work required lunches/dinners.

76. Take some sort of class just for fun – exercise classes and any class related to one of my money-making ventures don’t count.

77. Read “1984”.

78. Launch a new “Greater Good” necklace for the each Christmas season during the 1001 days and donate 25% of the sales price to Boys Hope Girls Hope. (2007 done! 2008 done!)

79. Get a little tipsy at a Sunday brunch drinking bloody marries and/or mimosas.

80. Since I’ve already figured out how to make my ideal mojito, figure out how to make my ideal bloody mary.

81. Read “Freakonomics”. COMPLETE: 8/2007

82. Go camping.

83. Get fresh flowers for my office at least once a month for one the summers during the 101 adventure (May – September).

84. Get two inside plants and keep them alive for at least a year (but hopefully for their normal natural lifespan!).

85. Get the “permanent” pages on my website updated (Greater Good, About the Designer, etc.) . VOID: 2/2009

86. Create a blog for my 101 list (or blog in MySpace) so that I have accountability for completing everything. COMPLETE: 5/1/07

87. Reach my goal weight.

88. Go canoeing with Dad.

89. Take Mom to a dinner theater performance. This is a long-owed birthday present that we were never able to get scheduled.

90. Have a super-fun birthday.

91. Transfer the rest of my personal files on my work computer to my home computer (most importantly, my MS Money and Jewelry Design Manager files). COMPLETE: 6/2/08

92. Clear all old financial info (bank statements, credit card statements, etc.) out my files and shred them. COMPLETE: 5/2008

93. Subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. COMPLETE: 6/2008

94. Get a group of girls together to go play BINGO.

95. Go one month without buying any clothes, shoes, or makeup. COMPLETE: 10/2007

96. Go to the dentist (I always put this off too long between visits and I’m very overdue). COMPLETE: 12/2007

97. Get really comfy, good quality pillows for my bed.

98. Get my car radio working again. COMPLETE: 5/8/07

99. Go away somewhere for the weekend on my own.

100. Design the tattoo I’ve thought about getting for so long. I don’t need to actually get the tattoo, but I at least need to design it.

101. Beat my parents and sister in Monopoly – hopefully crushing them!! COMPLETE: 12/2008
